Meet Joseph Barnes III

Specialty: Couples Counseling

Pain is too familiar. You want to improve your relationships now.

Pain is too familiar. You want to improve your relationships now. You’ve been feeling stuck—maybe for a long time. You’ve been hurt and are in pain. You have become too familiar with pain. You’re tired of shrinking yourself, tired of being overlooked, and tired of feeling like you have to keep it all together when you’re falling apart inside. You want real change. You’re ready to show up—but you need someone who can show up with you.

You know you need couples counseling. You’re committed to your relationship but you keep running into the same walls. You and your partner want to stay together, but:

  • Communication feels like talking in circles
  • There’s pain from past or recent infidelity
  • You’re preparing for a big life change, like becoming parents
  • You need help learning to truly listen, forgive, or just understand each other better

You know your relationship—and the foundation you’ve built—is at risk. That includes your family’s emotional wellbeing, generational wealth, and your children’s stability. Without support, you’re more vulnerable to unhealthy coping strategies, resentments, emotional disconnection, and conflict that escalates over time. Silence can grow loud. Avoidance can grow toxic.

Meet Joseph Barnes III, LCSW

Therapy with Joseph will help you feel empowered, seen, and supported. You’ll gain more than a therapist—you’ll gain a confidant, an advocate, and a teammate. If you don’t know how to fight for yourself or your relationship, Joseph will teach you. Because life is going to hit—but with the right support, you’ll know how to hit back.

Joseph Barnes obtained his Masters in Social Work from North Carolina Central University and licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He’s not just a listener—he’s a motivator, a steady guide, and someone who genuinely shows up for you. Joseph offers the kind of support that helps you do something with what you’re feeling—because knowing something is wrong and doing nothing about it only lets the problem grow.

Outside of the therapy room, Joseph is passionate about wellness and health. He’s into taking care of his body and fascinated by the healing power of plants. With a background that includes living in places like Hawaii, Japan, Korea, and Germany, Joseph understands what it means to adapt, start over, and find connection in unfamiliar spaces.

What Therapy with Joseph Feels Like

Therapy with Joseph evolves with you. Each session is shaped by how you show up, and no two sessions are ever the same. Some days will be about listening, others about learning, growing, or just being honest. Joseph creates a space where you can be vulnerable, say the things you’ve never said out loud, and not feel judged for it.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Unpredictable in the Best Way: Therapy shifts with your needs—no scripts, no cookie-cutter formulas.
  • Love is Love. He respects and welcomes all relationships.
  • A Brave Space: Share freely without fear of judgment, criticism, or shame.
  • Growth-Focused: You’ll gain insight, tools, and new perspectives to help you move forward.
  • You’ll Hear His Motivation Coming Through: You’ll likely hear his one liners that hit and make you think like-
    • “It’s okay to get knocked down, but it’s not okay to stay down.”
    • “Don’t let your frustration trigger aggression.”
    • “Do not allow your heart to blind your intuition.”

Joseph’s goal isn’t to keep you in therapy forever—it’s to help you solve the issues that brought you here, so you can walk out stronger, clearer, and ready to live your life with confidence.
