Disillusionment is a feeling of disappointment resulting from the discovery that something is not as good as one believed it to be.  College students and young adults are sold on the idea of living it up in their 20s and the excitement that comes with this time in the their life.  However, that has been the opposite of what many are experiencing due to COVID-19 quarantine restrictions. Many students and young adults have been challenged in handling the worries of finding a job. We’re experiencing the largest numbers of unemployment claims in recent history. Additionally, several big events have been canceled. It is difficult to postpone a wedding or not attend your graduation.

How to Deal

Mindfulness

Jackie encourages young adults to really be in the moment. Enjoy the relaxation from spending time in your hammock while social distancing. Pay attention to the present moment.

Set SMART Goals

1) Set a realistic and achievable goal that takes today’s economy into consideration

2) Set a moderate goal that may or may not be possible right now

3) Set a reach goal. This is a goal that likely won’t happen right now but it’s fun to hold onto.
